The performer displays a sword and places it into a holder so it is pointing vertically. An assistant is placed on top of the sword horizontally and balanced on it with no other means of support. The assistant is spun on the sword and then drops about half a foot onto the blade with the tip of it protruding out of the assistant's stomach. The assistant is lifted off of the sword with no harm done.
One of the risks of performing this effect is that the assistant can suffer from whiplash while dropping onto the blade. Some props are built so the assistant drops at a more controlled rate to reduce the risk of injury.
