Now You See Him, Now You Don't is a 2002 movie starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Mary-Kate and Ashley are practising for the Harrington Magic Show. The girls are supposed to pair up with a boy for their performances and Ashley picks her long-time crush Ross Lambert to do a magic trick. Ross is already an experienced magician, and decides that their trick is going to be sawing Ashley in half! Ashley is scared at the thought of being sawed in half, but agrees to go along with it. Mary-Kate's magic trick with her boy-partner is a little less dangerous as it involves Sugar, the horse.
Problems arise for the girls when Mary-Kate trains the wrong horse, which refuses to listen to her at all. Meanwhile, Ashley has an argument with Ross and ends up trapped inside the box used for sawing her in half when Ross storms off and leaves her locked inside.
Eventually, the girls get their problems sorted out and perform their magic acts at the show.
- Both girls had to practice for several weeks prior to filming in order to get their magic tricks right.
- The trick where Ashley gets sawed in half is called the Thin Model sawing. When interviewed about it, Ashley said "the first time we rehearsed the trick, it was quite scary as I lay there in the box and the magician I was practicing with started to saw through it. But it turned out to be not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Yeah, feeling the saw cutting through me that first time was really weird, but not painful. It just tickled a bit as it went through me, and then the divider plates were a bit cold as he pushed them through me. Feeling them in place, I knew I was now in two halves, which was really weird to know, but actually felt really cool."
